Elder Craig C. Christensen, 56, of the First Quorum of the Seventy has been called to the Presidency of the Seventy effective Aug. 1. Elder Christensen succeeds Elder Jay E. Jensen, who will be released and receive emeritus status during the Church's October general conference.

Elder Christensen was sustained as a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy on Oct. 5, 2002, and as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy on April 5, 2008. At the time of his call as a General Authority, he was serving as an Area Seventy in the Utah South Area and was a self-employed businessman in the retail automotive and real estate development industries. Elder Christensen received a bachelor's degree in accounting from BYU and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Washington. He is married to Debora Jones Christensen; they are the parents of four children.
