NEW STAKES

Four new stakes have been created.

A new stake has been created from the Apia Samoa and Pesega Samoa stakes. The Apia Samoa Central Stake, which includes the Alafua, Alamagoto, Motootua, Pesega 2nd, Vailima and Vaimoso wards, was created by Elder O. Vincent Haleck of the Seventy and Elder Meliula Fata, an Area Seventy.

A new stake has been created from the Idaho Falls Lincoln and Iona Idaho stakes. The Iona Idaho South Stake, which includes the Iona 1st, Iona 3rd, Iona 4th, Iona 6th, Iona 7th, Iona 8th, Iona 9th and Iona 10th wards, was created by Elder Gregory A. Schwitzer of the Seventy and Elder Alan C. Batt, an Area Seventy.

A new stake has been created from the Konongo Ghana District and Kumasi Ghana Stake. The Kumasi Ghana Dichemso Stake, which includes the Atonsu, Daban, Konongo 1st and Konongo 2nd branches and Asokwa, Buokrom, Dichemso and Kwamo wards, was created by Elder LeGrand R. Curtis Jr. of the Seventy and Elder John A. Koranteng, an Area Seventy.

A new stake has been created from the Apia Samoa Navu Stake. The Upolu Samoa Nu’umau Stake, which includes the Laulii 1st, Laulii 2nd, Letogo, Luatuanuu, Nu’umau and Solosolo wards, was created by Elder O. Vincent Haleck of the Seventy and Elder Meliula Fata, an Area Seventy.

APIA SAMOA CENTRAL STAKE: (Dec. 24, 2013) President — Faamoana T. Utai, 57, Apia Samoa Temple engineer; wife, EneLeta Hunt Utai. Counselors — Penilosa A. Taosoga, 73, high school teacher; wife, Siulia Leapai Taosoga. Hans Jason Joseph, 38, translation manager for the Church; wife, Sally Schmidt Joseph.

IONA IDAHO SOUTH STAKE: (Jan. 19, 2014) President — Gary A. Ames, 57, professor at BYU-Idaho; wife, Marilyn Dee Baldwin Ames. Counselors — Wade Bernell Gordon, 54, operations manager/welder at KV Inc.; wife, Lesa Ann Sitterud Gordon. Brad Dee Smith, 55, general surgeon; wife, Tamara Tracy Smith.

KUMASI GHANA DICHEMSO STAKE: (Dec. 15, 2013) President — Edmond Kwabena Adusei, 54, teacher/principal superintendent of education for Ghana Education Service; wife, Naomi Owusu. Counselors — Ernest Asante Oteng, 56, head of security ; wife, Cufty Twum Ampofo Oteng. Paul Oppong, 54, tutor at Salem Secondary School; wife, Margaret Denin.
